Elyse Snipes

Thelassophile. Forager. Metal Worker. Assemblage Artist.

My work is a compilation of my deep love for the beach, of treasure hunting with my children, and of unlikely things coming together to become something new. My art lives at the intersection of strength and delicacy, where industrial tools meet organic materials. Each sculpture reflects my deep connection to nature and belief in honoring the stories held in weathered, ocean-worn objects. Every shell was collected by hand by me or my family, either free diving in Catalina, San Clemente or Mexico or wandering our local shores. The metal was both hunted and gifted - in ravines in Julian, the side of the road, or shared with me from scraps of friend’s projects.

Guided by instinct, curiosity, and the continual pull of the coast, I create art that feels both ancient and alive—built by hand, shaped by flame, and rooted in the rhythms of the sea.
